Whately Police Triathlon Sponsor
March 27, 2008
Laurel Mountain Basket Company helps its home town by sponsoring the 1st Annual Whately Police Triathlon, a fundraiser for the Whately (Massachusetts) Police Station Renovation. "Like all small towns in the US today, Whately is working to keep property taxes down while continuing to provide its residents with a high quality of life. This is a way for us to say 'thank you' to our police force," says Marie Lisewski, owner of the gift basket service that operated as a home based business in Whately before moving to its current retail space in Easthampton. Lisewski has also registered as a volunteer to help out the day of the event. "I don't run or swim or bike, but I can hand out water," she claims.
Scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. on July 6, 2008, this USAT sanctioned event is a local race for a local cause. Proceeds from the 1/2 mile swim, 14 mile bike and 3 mile run will benefit the town police department move into their newly renovated space. Individual and Team Entrants are available. For information including the race route or to register on line, visit the town website at www.whately.org.
