Area Gift Basket Company Goes To The Dogs

October 07, 2008

Easthampton, MA -  This month is "Adopt a Shelter Dog Month" and Laurel Mountain Basket Company is committed to raising awareness of the plight of shelter dogs.  In addition to donating a portion from the sale of their pet gift baskets to several area non-profit animal rescue organizations, Laurel Mountain Basket Company will be collecting items to be donated to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society facilities in Greenfield and Leverett, MA.

"The increase in home foreclosures is hitting the animal population hard" states Marie Lisewski, owner of the Easthampton based gift basket service.  "Many obedient, well trained and loving pets are being left at shelters or simply abandoned on the streets because their owners can no longer take care of them."

"Even if you aren't able to adopt a dog, you can help," explains Lisewski.  "Ordinary items such as paper towels, laundry detergent and bleach, gently used pet toys, towels and blankets, office supplies including copy paper, postage stamps, and DE-R disks, as well as dry and canned pet food can all be put to good use."

Items can be left at the Laurel Mountain Basket Company studio, in the Eastworks building at 116 Pleasant Street, Easthampton.  For more information call Marie Lisewski at 413-527-1243 or visit the company website at www.laurelmtbasket.com.
